CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS
PAYMENT OF WERAITI MEN. AN INCORRECT STATEMENT. At its November meeting the Masterton County Council decided to grant the men engaged on the special scheme on road improvements at Weraiti Hill holidays on full pay from Friday, 24th December, to Friday, 31st December. At yesterday’s meeting of the Council a councillor reported that a statement had been made that the Council was not paying the men for the holiday period, and for that reason the Government would not find its proportion of the subsidy. It was made clear at the meeting that such a statement was entirely incorrect.
