ODD FELLOWS

LOYAL MASTERTON LODGE. FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The fortnightly meeting of the Odd Fellows’ Lodge was presided over by Bro. A. Torrance. One new member was initiated into the Order. The secretary reported that presents had been purchased for 272 children, and all children are requested to call at the Lodge room on Saturday, 18th December, for their Christmas presents. It is essential that all the gifts be called for. Every child of 12 years and under has been catered for. The Friendly Society Council delegate (Bro. P. M. Smith) reported that the Council suggested running a combined Friendly Society picnic in theNew Year. The Lodge agreed that its delegates should support the same. Bros. A. Torrance, F. Knowles, E. Mooney and P. M. Smith were appointed a committee to arrange for a ericket match with Petone Lodge. The dance committee reported that arrangements were being made for a dance at the Masonic Hall on Boxing Day, Monday, 27th December. Bro. P. Morris and Sister M. Ansell were appointed managers of the Juvenile Lodge. It was reported that the annual returns and balance sheets for the year 1937 were ready for audit.

It was reported that the Lodge had a membership of 281, and 70 visiting members. Six members had left through arrears and one resignation. The usual card tourney will be held to-night.
