MASTERTON EXECUTIVE. A well attended meeting of tlie executive of tlie Masterton Girl Guides’ Association was held yesterday afternoon in the Municipal Buildings. Mrs. Jordan, District Commissioner, presided and welcomed Mrs. J. H. Irving, the newly-elected president to her first meeting. Interesting reports were read from the fourth Tararua Company and Tararua Brownie pack, also from the AYeraiti Company. The garden party held by the Guides was very successful, the sum of £l4- being raised. Appreciation of Mrs. E. Norman’s kindness in lending her beautiful garden for this event was expressed. The Guides intend to hold a camp tire by the Lansdowne bridge at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday. This camp tire- i ! s in place of one that was to have been held at the time of the Coronation. A short ceremonial will be held to coincide with a similar procedure taking place by Guides throughout New Zealand. All Guides present will bring suitable gifts to go to the Red Cross appeal for relief of distress’ in the Far East. A very important event for Guides is the opening of the Inveresk Camp- in Canterbury. This is to take place from January 20 to January 2S. The executive has decided to help financially any Guiders from Masterton who wish to take advantage of the special training facilities offered at Inveresk. The resignation of Miss Sheba Prater owing to her approaching marriage was received with regret.
