OBITUARY
MRS. J. R. D. GUTHRIE-SMITH. The many friends of Mrs Glovina Guthrie-Smith, wife of Mr. J. R. D. Guthrie-Smith, Homebush, Masterton, will learn with deep regret of her deatE. which occurred at a private hospital yesterday afternoon after a brief illness. The late Mrs Guthrie-Smith came to Masterton after her second marriage, 25 years ago, and had resided at Homebush ever since. Born in India in 1871, she came out to New Zealand at the age of 12 years with her parents, the late Major Moore and Mrs Moore, of Kiwatea. She leaves a husband and one daughter, to whom will be extended the sympathy of a wide circle of friends in their sad loss. The funeral will leave tlie residence, Homebush, at 2 p.m. to-morrow (Sunday) for St. Matthew’s Cb ure fi> an d thence to the Masterton Cemetery. MRS. C. GROUBE, SENIOR. The death occurred yesterday afternoon of Mrs. Caroline Groube, Senr., of Richmond Road, Carterton. The late Mrs. Groube, who was in her 93rd year, had resided in the Carterton districi for upwards of seventy years. She came to New Zealand from England with her parents when she was 11 years old and after living in Wellington for a time took up her residence in Carterton, where she had remained ever since. Her husband predeceased her over 30 years ago. Mrs. Gfoube 'is survived by a family of two daughters and five sons. The daughters are Mesdames G. Bambry and K. Anderson (Halcombe) and the sons Messrs Thomas (Greytown), William (Auckland), Francis (Masterton), Frederick (Matarawa) and Cecil (Carterton). The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to the bereaved relatives in their great loss.
The funeral will leave the residence, Richmond Road, Carterton, at 1.30 p.m. to-morrow for the Clareville Cemetery.
