WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT TINUI. The monthly meeting of the Tinui Women’s Institute was held recently in the Tinui Hall, Mr S. O’Hara being in the chair. Mrs O ’Hara was elected as one of the delegates to attend the half-yearly council meeting in Pahiatua. The second delegate was to be either Mrs I. Speedy or Mrs D. Campbell. During the afternoon Mr Graeie gave a very interesting talk on South America. The competitions for the day resulted as follow:—Something new from something old (judged by Mesdames S. Schofield and Horsbrugh), Mrs Carmen 1, Miss Townsend 2, Mrs Campbell 3. Three varieties of biscuits (judged by Mesdames! Miles and J. Bennett), Mrs Carmen 1, Mrs P. Parker 2. Mrs E. Schofield won the pencil and paper competition, Miss Squire being second and Mrs P. Parker and Mrs Nation third. The hostesses for the day were Mrs H. Groves, Miss D. Groves and helpers.
