AMERICAN AIRMEN’S VENTURE. LONDON, Thursday. Messrs. Richman and Merrill, the American airmen, took off from Southport at 3.5 a.m. Thousands' cheered the flyers. Richman said they had already ordered a dinner of steak and chips at New York and expect to eat it at 7 p.m. PROGRESS MADE. LONDON, Monday. Messrs Richman and Merrill passed the Arran Islands at 5 am. SAFELY ACROSS. FORCED DOWN. (Received Tuesday, 12.35 p.m.) MONTREAL, Monday. A correspondent of the United Press at St. John’s (Newfoundland) reports that Richman and Merrill were, forced to bring their plane down in a marsh near the town, at 2.20 p.m., New York time, to-day.
