OPERATION AT SEA
SUCCESSFULLY PERFORMED. SYDNEY, Sunday. The appendicitis operation on Captain Kane was performed successfully by the Marama’s surgeon, without the assistance of the Niagara’s surgeon. A cable on Saturday stated: —A wireless message was received in Sydney by the Union Steam Ship Company, _ that the master of the Marama, Captain R. M. Kane, had developed acute' appendicitis while the vessel, was on its way across the Tasman, and that an urgent, operation was being arranged. The message was from the. master of the Niagara, who stated that,he had received a radio call from the Marama, seeking the services of the Niagara’s surgeon to assist in the operation.
