As the result of a huge demonstration 30,000 Lanarkshire miners were instructed to launch a one-day strike tomorrow as a protest against the treatment of the stay-in strikers at William Dixon and Company’s Blantiro. Colliery, "whose manager (Mr Ritchie) refused to [allow food to be sent down. Sty of the fifty-four underground have already been brought to face through illness and other caus'es. Those brought up at the weekend were all unconscious, and 'were sent to their homes in ambulances. The repmainder have been without fo6d since 10th September, and have been compelled to drink dirty sump water.
