OLD BOYS’ CRICKET CLUB

NINTH ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the ninth annual report of the Old Boys’ Cricket Club:— The committee have pleasure in presenting the report of the Old Boys Cricket Club for the 1935-36 season. The batting honours went to A. C. Lang with an average of 53.1; T. W. R. Slierratt was next with 35.16; E. Jenkins third with 16.9, and K. C. Montgomery fourth with 16. With the ball, A. A. McPherson was the most successful with an average of 10.7; K. C. Montgomery was next with 12.8; 1. W. E. Slierratt third with 14.7, and J. Hewitt fourth with 15.3.

The finances of the club show a satisfactory credit balance. The replacement of material is an early and steady drain on the club’s funds and the committee requests that members become financial as early as possible in the season.

We regret the departure from the district of Mr K. C. Montgomery, who has been a member of this club since 1928 and who has during the past eight years rendered yeoman service to the club. In addition to being captain of the team for the past five years the work done by him on the administrative side of the club lias been invaluable and the loss to the club will be severely felt. We are indebted to Messrs E. S. Smith, N. G. Eayner and A. Sutherland for donations to the club funds and also to Mr IL B. Tomlinson, Principal of the Wairarapa High School, for the excellent practice wickets which were made available for club members. We have also to thank Messrs Griffin and Sturgeon, custodians of the High School and Masterton Park respectively, for the preparation of match wickets during the past season. We also wish to thank the Press for their support during the season. The annual meeting is to be held on Monday, 14th inst., at 7.30 p.m. in the A.M.P. Buildings, and with the prospect of several new members joining a good season is anticipated by all. — For the Committee, J. K. Logan, captain; J. Hewitt, lion, secretary.
