Her Excellency, Lady Galway, returned to Wellington tins morning from Auckland.

The death ha® occurred at Dunedin of Mr William Crossan, aged 74 years, licensee of the WAterloo Hotel, Caversliam. Mr Crossan was well known and widely respected in Dunedin. His chief hobby was racing, for which lie generally had several horses in training, and he was a frequent attended at race meetings throughout the South Island. The best-known of his horses were Parable and Ogier.
