The death occurred at Timaru yesterday of Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Parkin, aged 95, who spent her first birthday on the ship Thomas Harrison en route to New Zealand, says, a Press 1 Association' message. She married the late George Parkin in Nelson in 1858, coming to Canterbury in 1860 and settling at Ashburton in 1874. Mr Parkin was a member of the first borough council. At St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Martinborough, on Saturday afternoon, Miss Constance Bilbie Evans, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. B. Evans, was married to Mr Trevor Gaudin, third son of Mr and Mrs W. J. Gaudin, Hataitai, Wellington. Mrs W. J. K. Wagg, sister of the bride, was matron of honour. There were two little flower girls, Sylvia Gully, niece of the bridegroom, and Jill Wagg, niece of the 'bride. The groom was attended by his brother, Mr John Gaudin. Soon after coming to New Zealand he taught a church school at Oxford, North Canterbury; subsequently he was headmaster at Waimate, Fairview (Timaru), and Gleniti. In 1902 his ordination at Nelson fulfilled a 30-vear-old ambition. He had charge of the parishes of Westport and Spring Creek (Marlborough).
