WOMEN’S MATCH.
N.Z. DEFEAT FIJI.
WELLINGTON, Saturday
The women’s hockey test, New Zealand v. Fiji, played to-day, resulted in a win for New Zealand by four goals to nil. New Zealand had a definite territorial advantage throughout the game, but a stout defence prevented them from scoring until late in the first half, the half-time score being 1/0. The match was watched by Lady Galway, to whom the players were presented. —(P.A.) WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. MATCHES ON SATURDAY. The Wairarapa Hockey Association’s championship fixtures were played on Saturday in pleasant weather. The grounds were in first-class order and some good, scores were registered. The following are the results: — SENIOR MEN. Stags beat Greytown, 8/1; Dalefield beat Wesley, 3/2; Hastwells beat Kiwi by default; Carterton, a bye. JUNIOR MEN. High School A beat Dalefield, 3/1; Wesley A beat High School 8,, 2/1; Wesley B beat Y.M.C.A., 4/1. SENIOR LADIES. Excelsior beat Old Girls l , 6/2; Gladstone beat Carterton, 6/1; Greytown beat St. Matthew’s, 3/0; High School beat Te Ore Ore, 7/3. JUNIOR LADIES. High School beat Excelsior, 8/1; Greytown and Old Girls drew, 1/1.
