THEFT FROM GARAGE

SUM OF MONEY STOLEN. AUCKLAND, Friday. While Mr Statam, a motor engineer, was asleep in a room above his garage in Victoria Street, thieves, using a brace and bit, bored eight holes in the outside door, entered the office without awakening him, and stole £ll9 in bank notes. Mr Statam withdrew the money from the bank yesterday, as he was about to move his business higher up the street, joining another engineer in partnership. —(P.A.)
