YACHT BRITANNIA
SINKING ON Bth JULY. (Received Friday, ,9.0 a.m.) LONDON, Thursday. It is revealed that suggestions that the Britannia, the late King George’s yacht, be used for charitable and instructional purposes, was rejected because King George himself desired its sinking, which will be carried out on Bth July, without ceremony. Sir Philip Hunloke, who steered her in every race except one, and the veteran Captain Turner, wil be among the half-dozen aboard. * ' Fewer than 200 persons attended the sale of the yacht’s contents. Much equipment had already been sent to King George’s yachting friends and institutions throughout the Empire. The sale realised £IOSO.
