SATURDAY’S RUGBY
BIG GAME AT MEMORIAL PARK. The Wairarapa Rugby Union has arranged a good programme for Rugby patrons on Saturday, the match of the day being between Red Star and Gladstone. The game is being staged at Memorial Park, and should attract a record! attendance for the season. The championship outlook is more open than ever, and with Red Star being the strongest contenders for the honours, it is to be expected that Saturday’! event at the Memorial Park will be one of hard striving by the participants, and productive of good, clean and exhilarating football for the onlookers. With Gladstone only one point behind Red Star on the championship ladder, they will require to defeat Red Star to be in the picture, but Stars of confident of reversing their only defeat of the season at the hands of Gladstone.
Old Boys will journey to Carterton on Saturday, where they meet the local side, and spectacular and exciting football should be witnessed. On the No. 2 ground at Carterton, Dalefield will meet. Fcatlierston.
In the Lower Valley, great interest is being taken in the match, Greytown v. Martinborougli, which is to be played at Martfnborough, this being the first occasion this season that these teams have met.
The curtain-raiser to be played at Memorial Park, commencing at 1.30 p.m., will be provided between Old Boys and High School thirds, and as both these teams play the open game, early patrons should witness a good exhibition of football.
