OVERSEAS TRADE
RISE IN IMPORTS. A considerable expansion in imports, amounting to nearly £6,500,000 for the financial year ended 31st March, and a contraction in exports of £1,125,000 for the same period, are the main features of the overseas trade returns issued by the Customs Department. The visible excess of exports over imports at £N.Z. 12;409,000 for the year, shows a decrease of £7,500,000 compared with that for the previous twelve months.
