HOSPITAL ASSOCIATION. FIRST ANNUAL MEETING. The Wairarapa Friendly Societies’ Hospital Association’s first annual meeting was held in the Foresters’ Hall, Cricket Street, Masterton. Bro. G. Masters, President of _ the U.F.S. Council, was appointed chairman of tlie meeting. The following delegates were present: —Pahiatua-Druidsj Bro. G. Taylor and Bro. F. Ridder; Pahiatua Foresters, Bro. E. Foley and Bro. H. Butcher; Eketaliuna Druids, Bro. S. O’Regan, Bro. Oldham; Eketahuna Foresters, Bro. R. Payne; Mauricoville Foresters, Bro. T. Kniglit; Tinui Foresters, Bro. W. Laing; Carterton Druids, Bro. E. McKenzie, Bro. Earl; Carterton 1.0.0. F., Bro. Rabbits, Bro. Foster; Masterton Druids, Bro. G. Milne, Bro. C. Pickering; Masterton Foresters, Bro. R. Davies, Bro. C. W. Perfect; Masterton Hibernians, Bro. A. O’Leary, Bro. W. McArloy; Masterton 1.0. R., Bro. G. Masters, Bro. E. Tooby; Masterton 1.0.0. F., Bro. R Jordan, Bro K. Gunn. Apologies were received from the Carterton Foresters and T.0.R., Greytown Druids and Foresters, Martinborougli 1.0. F., and Pahiatua Hibernians.
Bro. G. Masters (president) called upon Bro. A. O’Leary to outline the activities of the committee which was set up at the combined meeting held last July for the purpose of arranging a-hospital agreement with the Wairarapa Hospital Board. In his report Bro. O’LeaTy stated that arrangements had: been made with tho Hospital Board for a workable agreement, after which the committee visited every lodge in the Wairarapa District and placed the proposed agreement before the members, which he was pleased to say was received by all with enthusiasm. Several amendments were put forward at these meetings and the committee are pleased to say that some of them have been accepted by the Hospital Board. Tho balance of the amendments and additions will be dealt with next week when the Hospital Board will receive a deputation to discuss tho alterations.
Bro. O’Leary was thanked for his comprehensive report. It was decided that the draft agreement be ratified subject to the amendments and additions being included by tlie Hospital Board.
The following officers and members were appointed as the executive body to control the association: —President, Bro. G. Masters; vice-president, Bro. A. O’Leary; secretary and treasurer, Bro. G. Tj. Scrivener: members, Bros. E. McKenzie and Rabbits (Carterton - ), T. Knight (Eketaliuna). G. Godfrey Taylor (Pahiatua), W. Laing (Tinui), R. Jordan ('Masterton'); trustees, Bro. E. Tooby, G. Milne, R. Jordan; auditors, Bros. MeFarlano Laing and G. Norris. The retiring executive were extended a most hearty voto of thanks for the way in which they had worked in fostering and forwarding the Scheme to its present position. Bro. G. Masters replied on behalf of tho retiring executive.
From the reports of six lodges it is ascertained that at the least three hundred members have signified their intention to! join the association. Thirteen , lodges have not yet forwarded their reports.
