A British Wireless message states that the Duke and Duchess of Kent arrived at London on Tuesday by air from Paris on their return from their honeymoon cruise in the West Indies. It is understood that Mr W. Fisher, Mayor of Carterton, lias agreed to be ag&rrn: nominated for the Mayoralty. The many friends of Mrs Helen Infield, who has been an inmate of the Masterton Hospital for the past few weeks, will be pleased to learn that she has been able to return to her home at Carterton.

It is announced by the Acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, that Mr E. H. Northcroft, barrister, of Auckland, had been offered and had accepted a position as a Judge of the Supremo Court Bench.

The engagement is announced of Miss Eileen Ellen Duckett, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. E. Duckett, Rangitumau, to Mr Norman Burns Finlaison Sutherland, second son of Mrs and the late Mr J. B. F. Sutherland, Masterton.

Moving at the annual meeting of the yC Masterton Farmers’ Union yesterday that a letter of condolence be forwarded to the widow and family of the late Mr Adam McKay, Mr J. M.
