WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
KAITUNA-FERNRIDGE,
There was a fair attendance of members at the last meeting of the Kaituna-Fernridge Women’s Institute, the president (Mrs Kier) being in the chair.
General business was dealt with and the delegates appointed for the Area Federation meeting at Carterton on the 3rd May, and the Dominion Federation Conference at Auckland in July.
The next meeting of the Institute was postponed until the 10th on account of the meeting at Carterton falling on the branch’s usual day.
During the afternoon a competition Was held which Mrs J. Stempa won, and the competition for the best plate of meringues was -won by Mrs J. Shaw, Mrs Stempa being second and third. A short talk on “Early Days in the Wain; i-apa ” was given by Mrs Daken, of Mt. Bruce, and demonstrations on curing skins and making golliwogs were given by Mrs J. and Miss 0. Campbell (also of Mt. Bruce), respectively. A very hearty vote of thanks was passed to all three ladies. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Compton, Mi’s Sinclair and Mrs P. R. Welch.
