YOUNG PEOPLE’S MEETING. Tho monthly meeting of the Young People’s Christian Temperance Union was held recently in the Methodist Bible Class room. Mr Cahill presided over a good attendance. Tho meeting opened with a hymn and prayer, followed by the Lord’s Prayer, led by Miss Phill Tongs. It was decided that tho branch should give a concert for tho benefit of the Prohibition movement in Masterton, and about the middle. of Juno was suggested. The date is to be fixed later.
The social held last month proved to be an outstanding success, and greatly helped to bring the young people to a happier social understanding, and whilst this succeeded the finuncial /side revealed a small credit balance.
The treasurer’s quarterly balance sheet was presented and received, and revealed a credit balance, proving that tho branch was running smoothly. At the close of the business, and after Mr Caliill had pronounced tho benediction, all present joined in a happy social gathering, at which supper was served, when a kitchen gift time was given to Miss C. Tyacke in honour of her approaching marriage. Mr Cahill, in speaking in honour of the guest of the evening, paid a high tribute to the esteem in which Miss Tyacke was held, and wished her all happiness for the future, and hoped that she would still continue with the prohibition cause in her ucw surroundings. Miss Tyacke, in reply, thanked all for the beautiful gifts, and assured them of her' support for temperance. She said that she would never forget tho social and happy .times which she had enjoyed with the Masterton “Y” Branch.
Tho singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow” brought a very happy evening to a close.
