LAND AGENT'S DEATH

VERDICT OP SUICIDE. WELLINGTON, This Day. At the inquest in connection with the death of Horace Graham Rutter, a land agent, of Wellington, held to-day, a police constable gave evidence as to being called to an unoccupied house in Miramar Road on 7th April, and finding the body near an oven door. The rooms smelt strongly of gas. _ Evidence was also given that Rutter had been managing salesman for H. G. Rutter and Co. during the past 18 months. Deceased had said that he was financially worried. Mr M. F. Luckie, who appeared for the relatives, said that he had been the deceased’s solicitor for many years. Since the depression deceased had been worried financially. A verdict was returned by the coroner (Mr Gilbertson) that deceased took his life by inhaling coal gas when mentally depressed through, financial matters. —(P.A.) mk
