THE PYGMY STORY

MERELY A HOAX. (Received Saturday, 10.20 a.m.) BOMBAY, Friday. * The pygmy story is one of the greatest hoaxes in recent times.

No discovery was made, and the report is either a practical joke or due to an ancient Hindu superstition, that spreading a false rumour helps in a domestic crisis, like child-birth.

The local authorities have been overwhelmed by world-wide cable enquiries, inconvenience in dealing with which resulted in a strict investigation.

A previous Bombay cable stated that there had been discovered the fossil remains of a 15-incli pygmy, a. 10-inch walking-stick, and an 18-inch high cow, in a well 150 feet deep.
