In the second race for the America Cup the Endeavour (the challenger) Avon by a. margin of 2 minutes 11 seconds, The Endeavour shoAved superiority on the run home. Yesterday’s race Avas the second of a series of seA r en to be sailed alternatively over two courses of 30 nautical miles. Saturday’s event was declared "no race” because the time limit was exceeded, the RainboAV (the defender) being in the lead at the time. The yacht which wins four of these seven races wins the cup. The maximum time allowed for completion of the course in each race is oi hours and racing will continue each day until a decision is reached. SPECTACULAR FINISH. (Received Tuesday, 12.15 p.m.) NEW YORK, Monday. The race Avas delayed for ten minutes, as the Endeavour fouled her mainsail and Avas given a short postponement. The RainboAV was aAvay tivo seconds ahead of the Endearmur, Avhicli had to luff-, to clear the committee boat, and lost Avay. While the breeze seldom reached eight knots on Saturday, the yachts raced into a sixteen-knot Avind that fell someAvhat, but freshened again to thirteen knots. The Endeaimur, in a demonstration of fine sailing qualities and the expert seamanship of her skipper and creAV, made the run home in a spectacular fashion against an obA-iously fast opponent. The EndeaA-our’s A'ictory Avas only the fourth British triumph in forty-one races in the fifteen series, co\ r ering a period of 84 years. Vanderbilt had outmanoeuvred SopAvitli on the fifteen mile windAvard leg of the thirty-mile course, but Avith the Avind astern the Britisher began to close the gap, and almost twenty minutes after passing the first mark went into a short lead Avhicli it consistently increased. ' To-morrow the vessels will race over a triangular course. ENDEAVOUR IMPEDED. INCIDENT ON SATURDAY. NEW YORK, Sunday. As the RainboAV and Endeavour started on the homeAvard stretch in the first race on Saturday, several A-essels, notably the United States destroyer, Manley, Avith movie camera men aboard, interfered Avith the challenger’s Avind. The Endeavour Avas almost becalmed until President Roosevelt from a nearby ship sent a radio request to the Manley to get out of the Avay. The impeding craft immediately headed aAA'ay, and the EndeaA'our shoAved a quick improvement.
