SCHOOL MATCH. An exciting game of football, in Avhich good Rugby Avas Avitnessed, Avas played at the High School ground, yesterday afternoon betAveen the Wairarapa and Napier Boys’ High School team. The game resulted in a Avin for the visitors by 9 points to 8. Play had only been in progress five minutes Avhen Wolstenholme opened the visitors’ account Avith a fine penalty goal. Wairarapa retaliated hotly, and ten minutes later Hatton found a gap Avith a judicious short punt and Peterson secured to race across betAveen the posts. O’Callaghan converted. —Wairarapa 5/3. Napier took the lead when Scoble cut clean through to score a fine try. Wolstenholme failed Avith the kick. A' fOAv minutes later Scoble capped a bright back rush Avith a try, Avliich Wolstenholme failed to convert. Just before the interval O’Callaghan made up some of the leeAvay Avith a penalty, making the scores Napier 9/8. Play improved considerably in the second spell, but though Wairarapa made gallant efforts to pull the game out of the fire in the closing stages, noside sounded Avitli the scores unchanged. Mr F. Dean Avas the referee. The curtain-raiser AA r as provided bv the Masterton and Wellington Technical School teams. Masterton Avon by 5 points to nil. Minett scored a try for Masterton, Avhich Avas conA r erted by Steel. There Avas no score in the second spell. Mr L. Roach Aims the referee.
WIN FOR WAITAKI SCHOOL. OAMARU, Friday. Bright Rugby marked the annual fixture between the Waitaki and . the Timaru Boys’ High Schools, Waitaki playing excellent football to win by 18 points to 3. —(P.A.)
