COMMISSION CONCLUDES Continuation of the defence of the Native Minister, Sir Apirana Ngata, against whom it had been submitted that he should take responsibility for a certain part of the detailed administration of schemes instituted by the department, occupied the final day’s sitting in Wellington yesterday of the commission appointed to inquire into the department’s affairs. Mr G. P. Finlay, counsel appearing on behalf of the Native race, contended that many of Audit’s “hectic complaints” were ill-founded, and were not the calm, considered and accurate statements of fact that imght be expected. The commission, which had ting for about four months, adjourned sine die.
