ELECTRIC POWER BOARD

SATISFACTORY PROGRESS. GOOD QUARTER’S REVENUE. At the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board, held to-day, the secretary-manager, Mr G. Brown, reported, inter alia, as follows: — “The progress made during the first three months of the current financial year is very satisfactory. The revenue shows an increase compared with the estimate, the expenditure has been kept within the limits of the estimate, showroom sales and repairs have maintained their position, and the value of installation work carried out shows a small increase. There has also been a noticeable increase in the number of applications received for estimates for extensions, and the whole staff has been very busy keeping pace with the work. “Compared with 1933, the revenue for the three months shows an increase of £213 11s lOd.

“Since the beginning of the financial year, the installation department has been kept very busy, the amount of work to be carried out gradually increasing over the period.

“It will be seen that the number of new installations and the number of additions for the three months exceeds those for the same period of the three previous years. On account ' of this additional load coming on at the beginning of the year the revenue account' will benefit for practically the whole year. The additional connected load for the three months amounts to 339 k.w., and includes: 609 light points, 236 heating points, 7 ranges, 11 water heaters and 15 motors. During this period 131 radio sets were installed. The number of consumers is now 4747.

“The capital expenditure so far this year is comparatively high, and is due to the increase in the number of consumers connected up, some of them requiring small extensions. The amount available for construction work for the year as shown in the annual report is £2468. So far we have expended the sum of £BB3 17s 6d.

“All the necessary procedure in connection with the conversion loan has been completed up to the stage of printing and issuing the new debentures. The Board’s solicitors have given a certificate that all the provisions of the Act and the conversion order have been properly complied with, and the necessary steps taken to entitle the Board to issue the new debentures. Debentureholders were allowed until 15th June, 1934, to register their dissent from conversion if they so desired. No dissents were received.
