HEARTLESS FRAUD
BIGAMIST SENT TO GAOL. (Received Friday, 12.35 p.m.) LONDON, Thursday. “You are guilty of the most heartless fraud,” said the judge, when sentencing Edward Ward to ten months’ hard labour for bigamy. It was revmaled that, since liv’ing together, Vautier had advanced him £7O. A cable last January stated: Ihe story of a bigamous marriage in Adelaide was told in the Leeds Police Court, when Edward Ward, aged 33, n musician, was charged with bigamy and being in arrears with his wife’s maintenance money. The name of the bigamous wife was Nancy Russell Vautier, formerly of Wellington, and now of Twickenham Park. It is alleged that Ward, after deserting his wife, went to Australia, where he met Miss Vautier on a liner from Sydney, going to Colombo, where she was to bo married. Ward induced her to marry him at Adelaide.)
