Press Association Eloctric Telegraph—Copyright KINGSTON (Jamaica), Friday.
A revised official list on Thursday night placed the death toll as the result of Wednesday’s flood at 130. It is estimated that it will take £IOO,OOO to restore homes and provide for the needs of the 50,000 inhabitants affected.
Floods in Kingston and the parishes of St. Thomas, St. Catherine, and St". Mary, followed a storm which was described yesterday as the worst in 80 years. The damage is estimated at £400,000. Bridges and buildings were swept and banana plantations levelled. The storm lasted six hours. Water rose as high as six feet in the streets and rushed through dwellings, washing away many occupants trapped in them.
