WOOL MARKET

AUCKLAND SALE, KEEN COMPETITION.. UPWARD TREND IN PRICES. AUCKLAND, This. Day. There is a catalogue of 22,798 bales at the second wool sale to-day. The. indication that the bottom has been reached in prices, and that there is now a definite upward trend, owing to the new exchange rates, is reflected in today’s bidding. Up to £7 per bale is expected throughout, being at the rate of 5d per pound. The clip is in good condition, and there is keen competition. Germany is particularly active, both for the coarse and fine wool. French buyers are prominent, and .Japan is biddingfreely for the higher grades. Bradford worked closer to reserves.

The brokers had a strenuous time adjusting the limits to suit the altered conditions.

A good clearance is being effected, and it is expected that over 90 per cent of the catalogue will be cleared.— (P.A.)
