A TEST VOTE REVERSE TOR WETS. Press Association Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Eeeeived Thursday, 9.40 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Wednesday. A tentative draft of the resolution to repeal the Eighteenth Amendment emerged to-day from a United States Senate judiciary. Drafted as a basis for a discussion .and not necessarily representing the views of the committee, it would give ■Congress power to prevent the return of saloons. On the first test vote on a beer bill in the House the “wets” were defeated by 132 votes to 10S on a motion to strike out the enacting clause of the Collier Bill. The move would -automatically have killed the measure. • ■On a teller vote being demanded the ' vote was 163 to 118. BEER BILL PASSED. (Received Thursday, 10.10 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Wednesday. The House passed the Beer Bill today, with ten votes to spare, after two •davs’ tumultuous debate.
