WANGAEHU SCHOOL

PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. The break-up of the Wangaehu School was held under ideal weather conditions. The children rendered their items (singing, folk-dancing and exercises) in the open, Airs James officiating as pianiste. The Rev. R. Dickie-, in presenting tho prizes, gave a fitting address to the children, praising Airs James’s work in assisting with the break-up. Prizes were awarded as follow:—Alargaret Alawley, highest class marks in senior division; Kathleen Crozier, first sewing; William Grcig, first handwork; Helen AlcGillivray, first, writing; Moss Jackson, English; Jack Wilson, first, spelling. Aliddle division: Reid Falloon, highest class marks; Yvonne Jones, writing, sewing and English; Alorag Alacgiiiivray, writing; .Jean Greig. physical drill; Colin Alackay, handwork: Uric Wilson, handwork;

Eileen McKenzie, English; Kenneth MacGillivray, handwork. Junior Division: June Alackay, highest class marks; Nola Crozier, first sewing; Betty Alac-Giilivray, diligence; Donald Jackson, 'first writing; William Cameron, first, reading; Michael Thornton, first writing; Helen Jackson, David AlacGiilivray, Dudley Ward, good work. Primers: Sheila McKenzie and Dorothy Ward; sewing; Doreen Thornton, reading; Joan Buchanan and Lindsay Berill, writing; Eileen McKenzie, Richmond- Kjestrup, Helena Richter, Thomas Richter, for good work. Attendance certificates were awarded to William Grcig, Jean Greig, William Cameron and Kathleen Crozier. All four proficiency candidates — Alargaret Alawley,. Kathleen Crozier, Helen MacGillivray and Ross Jackson—were successful in the recent examination. Special prizes were donated by Alesdames Alawley, James, Jackson, Crozier and Miss Niwmnn.
