WAGES AND HOURS. AGREEMENT IN AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, This Day. Complete agreement covering the Auckland industrial district except Poverty Bay has been readied between the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company and 60 other dairy companies and the Auckland creameries, cheese, and butter factories’ union. For cheese workers there will be no limit on the hours for eight months of the year. For two of the remaining months the hours will be 48 weekly and in the remaining two 44 hours. For butter workers a 56-hour week will be worked between Ist August and 31st March, and a 44-hour week in the remaining months. No alteration has been made in the wages of adult or female workers. Youths’ starting wage will be 17/6 and 25/- in the second year, 35/- for the third. The previous starting wage was 22/6, rising to £2/12/6. Casual labour is to receive 1/7 per hour. A piecework clause is included for makers of butter boxes or cheese crates. —(P.A.)
