DESTRUCTIVE TORNADO HEAVY DEATH ROLL. Press Association Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received Wednesday, 9.10 a.m.) CALCUTTA, Tuesday. Twenty-tAVO Avarders, conA'icts and political prisoners Avere killed, and over 100 were injured, Avhen the Mymensingh Gaol collapsed in a. tornado. It is feared that many Avere buried in the debris. Rescue parties Avere Avorking feverishly all night in the blinding rain and darkness. In the confusion, panic-stricken prisoners clambered OA r cr the ruins and escaped into the jungle. Many Avere recaptured in a round-up by an armed force, but 220 are still at large. The gaol is almost Avreeked. Portions of the brick Avails and iron girders were lifted bodily by the force of the Avind aiid flung long distances. The tornado travelled at a speed of 115 miles per hour, and swept agricultural districts, leaving a trail of ruin. Peasants’ frail houses were razed, and many Avere killed and injured. The total casualties are unknown. The tornado also struck villages in the Allahabad, district. Twelve persons Avere killed and over a hundred injured. Scores of cattle perished.
