He can always gallop, on the training tracks, but does not always feel like doing as well in public. Saturday found him in one of his generous moods and he ran two good races. He w r on the Glasnevin Handicap in decisive fashion, and with a 71b penalty ran a good third in the Amberley Handicap. Mr P. F. Thorpy made a trip from Greymouth to see Rational 11. run at Amberley and was rewarded with another win. W. McDonald has got this Australia-bred gelding in great order. Rational 11. has become a model of consistency. In nineteen starts this year, he has recorded six wins, three seconds and five thirds. "While in his few unplaced starts lie has run good races.

Hounslow had been galloping in improved fashion on the tracks, hut few people expected him to win the G. B. Starky Memorial Handicap. His trainer, T. H. Gillett, however, gave him a winning chance. Juniper, Elude and Hounslow were in front most of the way. Muff put in a good run where she got the chance, but, though she accounted for the remainder of the field, she could not get to Hounslow, who finished full of running. Mr E. Hay owns Hounslow, who is a six-year-old gelding by Thurnliain from the English mare Heath Lass (dam of Royal Saxon) by Newmarket. This was the first success of Hounslow since lie won the Beaconsfield Hack Handicap at, Waslidyke on 19th June, 1930.
