SYDNEY BRIDGE
HANDED OVER.
SYDNEY, Tuesday
Tlie Harbour Bridge was to-day formally handed over by the contractors, Dorman, Long and Co., to the Xew South Wales Government. The bridge was illuminated to-night, and warships, including the Diomede, weie rehearsing a searchlight display, focussing their beams on the bridge and making a glorious spectacle. Fifty thousand school children will pass in procession across the bridge to-morrow preparatory to Saturday’s carnival.
Colonel Eric Campbell, leader of the Xew Guard, announced: “If Mr Lang is not to open the bridge it will be.the result of a decision by my council. I cannot act without a 75 per cent vote of the council of action.”
