Now the two discs are released out here, and they are truly magnificent. “Brigg Fair,” called an English rhapsody, is dedicated to . that great Columbia artist, Percy Grainger. The work itself is virtually a set of variations on an old Lincolnshire folk tune discovered by Grainger, and no lovelier set of orchestral variations has ever been written. This is music to charm the soul out of anyone—one of the greatest masterpieces of modern times. •
