MAURICEVILLE COUNTY
MEETING OF COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the Maurieeville County Council was held on Saturday. Cr. R. Judd (chairman) presided, there being also present: Crs. \V. A. Miller, A. Forsberg, D. Bennett and J. 11. Macdonald. Leave of absence was granted to Cr. F. W. Perry. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £4O 3s 4d. Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £379 Ss Id, including refund on rates and relief work.
An application by Air F. Butcher for a slaughterhouse license was granted, subject to the approval of the Stock Inspector.
An application for the adjustment of rent of a reserve was granted, and the clerk was directed to require payment of rent in arrear in respect of another reserve.
Permission to employ relief workers on farms were granted to several fanners on certain conditions, and these matters were left in Cr. Miller’s hands to make definite arrangements. The Waitemata County Council forwarded particulars in regard to a proposed appeal case relating to power poles, for the information of the Council.
Further information was received from the Unemployment Commissioner in regard to the cultivation of vegetables and work on farms by relief workers. Forms of questionnaire in regard to gardening were submitted with replies from relief workers. The district engineer forwarded a circular requiring readjustment of plant charges and insurance for subsidy purposes as desired by the Main Highways Board. The overseer reported progress of general and relief work during the past month. Proposed work for the ensuing month was discussed and arranged.
