ALLEGED GAMING HOUSE
AN AUCKLAND RAID
AUCKLAND, Sunday
Premises in Grey’s Avenue, wheie it yvas alleged that Pakapoo was being played, were raided by detectives on Saturday night and all the occupants, one Chinese and nine Europeans veie arrested.
The Chinese, Kar Chong, was latei charged yvith having kept a common gaming house, the others being charged with being found unlawfully on premises used for gaining. All were tcmanded until Monday.
A crowd of over 1000 collected in the street and the detectives feared that they would not he able to take their prisoners to the station, foui more men being sent to theii nsa-ist anee. A large portion of an old brick was thrown by a man in the crowd at a detective, narrowly missing him and breaking a window. The n /i was later arrested and charged with assault and mischief. — (P-A.)
