ADRIFT ON ICE
fishermen rescued. LONDON, Saturday. “The Times” Helsingfors correspondent states that the intense cold is forming new ice. This has enabled most of the marooned fishermen to reach the mainland. Others were rescued by an icebreaker. —(“ Times ” cable). (The marooned men were fishing on the ice in the Gulf o-f Finland when a blizzard arose and the ice became separated from the mainland, and drifted in a south-westerly direction, each drift carrying away a number of men and horses. The tempearturcs were 35 degrees below freezing, and few men had reserve food supplies).
