AMERICA’S DEBTS
A HUGE TOTAL.
(Received Tuesday, 9.5 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Monday.
The American Government indebtedness, including State, County and city, is now estimated at between £7,000,000,000 and £8,000,000,000, being four times the country’s total war debt, and representing a per capita indebtedness of slightly over £6O. The Federal public debt to-day exceeds £3,600,000,000, an increase of nearly £500,000,000 during the last IS months.
