MOTOR FATALITY

CYCLIST KILLED.

PALMERSTON N., Monday

John Errol Mason, aged 17, residing with his parents in Grey Street, Palmerston North, was killed when his motor cycle capsized over a bank at Reid’s Lane, near Bunnythorpc, at 7.45 o’clock last evening. His companion in a sidecar escaped, being thrown clear.

A sad feature of the accident was that deceased had been to Bunnythorpc to attend the funeral of B. Elwin, the young man who was killed at the motor cycle sports at Marton on Friday, and he afterwards assisted Elwin’s father with the milking. Deceased and his companion were returning home on a downward grade, and when close to an intersection deceased is stated to have applied the brakes, with the result that the cycle, which had gained momentum, capsized over a bank. Deceased was thrown off violently, breaking his neck. — (P.A.)
