Master Walter Dyer, eldest son of Sergt, T. H. Dyer and Mrs. Dyer, Masterton, who is a pupil at Sacred Heart College, Auckland, was successful in patsing the Public Service Entrance examination.

The election of officers of the teachers’ summer school for the ensuing year, a Whangarei Press Association message states, included the GovernorGeneral (Lord Bledisloe), as patron. Mr. F. Milner, of Waitaki, was reelected president. The Dominion executive comprises: Messrs. A. Wilson (Taranaki), L. Donaldson (Opua), L. Brown (Otago), G. Head (Canterbury), R. D. Thompson (Whangarei), Misses J". Hume (Palmerston North), W. Mansfield (Auckland), K. Kennedy (Christchurch), and F. Fogelburg (Wellington). The secretary and treasurer is Mr. G. Ashbridge (Wellington). The venue next year will be either Blenheim, Timaru, or Invercargill, as the executive decides.
A very largo and representative attendance of mourners at the funeral of the late Mrs. L. Nielsen, at Mauriceville West yesterday afternoon, bore witness to the respect and Tegard in which she was ‘ held and to the sympathy felt with her relatives. Amongst those present were a number of Mr. L. Nielsen’s fellow-directors on the board of the Mauriceville Dairy Company and the member for the district, Mr. G. R. Sykes. A wealth of beautiful wreaths was received. Services at the homestead and at the Mauriceville .West Cemetery were conducted by the Rev. A. Christensen, of j Palmerston North. The pall-bearers ■ were the late Mrs. Nielsen’s six sons, Messrs. Charles Bernard, Arthur, Hans, Harry Alfred, Norman and George Leonard Nielsen.
