CALEDONIAN SPORTS
WAIRARAPA GATHERING. UNFAVOURABLE CONDITIONS. In spite of a steady drizzling rain which fell during the greater part of the afternoon the Wairarapa Caledonian Society carried out to a finish the entire programme of its fifty-fourth annual sports gathering at Memorial Park on Saturday afternoon. The unfavourable weather affected the attendance which was fair.
The athletic events were keenly con tested while the dancing and piping events were marked by an excellent stan dard throughout.
The New Zealand championship Reel o’ Tulloch, for boys and girls under to years, was won by Adeline Burnette, of Wellington, who also secured the McLachlan Challenge Cup for mosht points in dancing events under 1(5 years. The Kahumingi Cup, for most points m dancing events under 12 years was won by Margaret Oates, Wellington. The Wanganui team retained the Ilcssej Shield in the ambulance competition.
