The “Daily Express” lobbyist says a reduction in income-tax is regarded .as a certainty in connection with the Budget. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr Neville Chamberlain, hopes it may even exceed sixpence, as he is assured that direct taxation is checking industrial enterprise. The decline in dole payments and the prospects of a general tariff are giving a fillip to British industry and «isting the Exchequer increasingly. It probable that the Chancellor will port that he has balanced the Budget.
