EMERALDS DISAPPEAR
A LONDON CRIME. LONDON, Monday. What is described as a flawless crime occurred when a registered packet of emeralds and diamonds, valued at £BOOO, vanished under the eyes of Post Office detectives in the course of transit from Hatton ‘Garden to Regent Street. The theft was not discovered until tho packet was delivered, when it was found to contain cottonwool instead of jewels. It is believed that an international gang, one of whom was disguised as a postman, was responsible.
