It was witnessed by scores of people. Two men quarrelled over a woman.. Both drew revolvers in the busy street and began firing point blank at one another. At least “eight, shots veie heard. Frederick Roberts (35) was killed.
James White (28), the other man, was arrested and charged with murder. Some of the bullets smashed shop windows.*
