GALE IN CHRISTCHURCH.
MUCH DAMAGE DONE. (By Telegraph—Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, .Monday. A fierce south-west storm caused considerable damage in Christchurch on Sunday night. Two sheets of iron were blown off a two-story house in Bealey Avenue and smashed the telephone lines. The occupants had a hard task to cover the hole with a tarpaulin in the raging gale. Elsewhere skylights were broken and a chimney dislodged. Two yachts capsized in Lyttelton 1 Harbour., and the occupants had to be rescued by other vessels. Considerable damage was done in various parts of the district.
