ROYAL SHOW.
OPENED TO-DAY. , LARGE GATHERING; ‘ * (By Telegraph—Press Association). HASTINGS, This Day. New Zealand’s seventh Royal Show was opened at the Tomoana Showgrounds in fine but overcast weather. All the accommodation in the town is booked up, and the fixture promises to be a record. The entries are a record for the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society, -and the exhibits in all sections are of high quality. Lord Bledisloe will officially open the show to-morrow afternoon. GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S VISIT. ' HASTINGS, This Day. Their Excellencies’ arrived by mail train yesterday, and were greeted by a large crowd at the station. The High School Cadets form a guard of honour, which His Excellency inspected, and spoke to one or two of the boys. Later their Excellencies were motored to Mr Godfrey Pharazyn’s residence, where they are to stay during their visit here. Last evening was free, but this morning their Excellencies visited the Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Free Kindergarten, High School and Women’s Rest. This afternoon Lord and Lady Bledis 1 100 will be officially welcomed at Cornwall Park, and this evening a conversazione will be held in the assembly hall.
