GENEROUS GIFTS.

THREE RECENT WILLS. Bequests to Wellington religious institutions amounting to £6OO are made under the will, of the late Mr Patrick Walsh, wlio died on October 9th. The first of half-yearly allocations provided for under the will of the late Chief Justice, Sir Charles P. Skerrett, are also announced, the sums distributed among nine organisations totalling £IBO. Another bequest just reported is one of £4OO to the Home of Compassion by the late Mr Edward McLaughlin, who died some months ago. The bequests from the estate of Mr Walsh are as follow: £ St. Joseph’s Convent, Upper Hutt 100 St. Mary of the Angels 300 Catholic Education Board 100 Home of Compassion (in addition to residue of the estate) 100 The late Sir Charles Skerrett directed the investment of portion of his estate and the application of the income therefrom to educational charities. The trustees, Miss M. Skerrett, Mr D. G. A. Cooper and Mr H. F. Johnston, K.C., have made the following half-yearly allocation of income:— £ St. Bede’s College, Cliclr. 25 Upper Hutt Girls’ Convent 25 Seatoun Boys’ Prep. College 25 Hastings Convent 25 Palmerston North Convent 10 Hill Street Convent, Wellington .... 10 Jubilee Institute, Auckland 20 Wellington Kindergarten 20 Salvation Army, Wellington '. 20 ‘About 500 volumes from the library* of the late Sir Charles Skerrett have been donated to St. Patrick’s College by Miss Skerrett..
