CHILDREN’S DANCE.

IN' ST. MATTHEW’S HALL. j St. Matthew’s Parish Hall was the scene of great gaiety last night, when the Ladies’ Guild held their annual children’s dance.

The following contributed towards the musical programme: —Stuart Hatch (musical monologue), Ross and Rex Riley (song), Avis and Audrey Loft (Spanish dance), while a bevy of girls did a ballet dance. The Guild thanks Misses Rosewarne and A. Perry and Mr Clark for their assistance, the judges, and all those who helped towards the supper. The judges were Mesdames Jordan, Gill and Strouts, who had an arduous task in selecting the prize winners. Their awards were as follow: —

Best fancy dress. —Girl under 10 years: “Granny,” Gwen Clark; “Queen of Hearts,” Jean Mackley (special prize). Best fancy dress. Boy under 10 years: “All Black Footballer,” lan Mackley; “Black Cat,” Donald Kjestrup (special prize). Best fancy dress.—Girl 10 and over: “Dolly Yarden, ’’ Erina Russell; ‘ Bubbles, Nola Yates (special prize). Best fancy dress.—Boy 10 years and over: “Pirate,” George Abbott. Most original boy.—“ Noah’s Ark,” Reg Gerrand. ■ Most original girl.—“ Lost Luggage,” Thelma Lane.
